As a college sophomore, Gabrielle Magid saw that the stigma surrounding mental health was keeping her peers from seeking out the care they needed. So, she joined with friends in founding Stronger Than Stigma, a âfor us, by usâ nonprofit dedicated to mental health advocacy for millennials. Magidâs message is clear: Millennials have all the characteristics necessary to defeat the stigma of mental health. Whatâs been done before hasnât cut it; millennials know this, theyâve sparked a movementâ"but itâs time now for everyone to join in making this a world without stigma, where asking for help is rightly celebrated as a sign of strength. Gabrielle Magid is the Founder and Executive Director of Stronger Than Stigma, Inc. a nonprofit organization dedicated to mental health advocacy for millennials. A graduate of the University of Florida, Gabrielle majored in womenâs studies and double-minored in business administration and nonprofit organizational leadership. An aspiring social entrepreneur, she is passionate about using business for social good. In addition to her nonprofit work, Gabrielle is a member of the Community Advisory Board of WJCT. You can also see her perform regularly around Jacksonville as a member of the Mad Cowford Improv Comedy Troupe. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
