We Need to Fix Our Broken International System | Joel Davis | TEDxColumbiaUniversity

As one of the loudest voices advocating for human rights, Joel Davis speaks on the failures of the international system through personal experiences working with governments, NGOs, and the United Nations. In this talk, Davis proposes a seemingly oxymoronic thesis that international reform should in fact be local. Joel Davis is the Director of the International Campaign to Stop Rape & Gender Violence in Conflict, the first ever global collaboration of Nobel Laureates, NGOs, and Experts working to end sexual violence in conflict. He is the founding Executive Director of Youth to End Sexual Violence and served as a Youth Ambassador for the UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict. He has been nominated for the Nobel Prize and currently attends Columbia University in the City of New York. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
