Combatting Muslim Stereotypes | Emily Atieh | TEDxAllendaleColumbiaSchool

Face-to-face interaction with those of different backgrounds facilitates cross-cultural understanding and is the key to promoting peace in an increasingly turbulent political climate, especially surrounding the Middle East and Islamophobia in the United States. Emily Atieh is a senior at Allendale Columbia School. She is a part of Allendale’s Global Diploma Program, and dedicated to promoting understanding and empathy cross-culturally. Her interest in Middle Eastern politics and culture specifically stems from a large portion of her family residing in Lebanon. Looking ahead, she plans to take a gap year to learn Arabic and then pursue anthropology and Middle Eastern studies in college. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
