Through the Lens of a Legally Blind Photographer | Hani Al Moulia | TEDxYouth@Toronto

After narrowly escaping the destruction and violence that killed members of their extended family, Hani Al Moulia and his family fled war-torn Syria to a UN refugee camp in Lebanon. Hani captured life in the refugee camp through his stunning photographs. In his talk, Hani shares his story of courage and hope as he journeyed from Syria to Lebanon and ultimately to Canada. Hani’s award-winning photography can be found around the world and has been hailed by the New York Times, Fast Company, and American Photo Magazine, among others. Hani is a member of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s first Youth Council, where he advises on national issues such as employment, access to education, building stronger communities, climate change, and clean growth. In the spring of 2015, Hani was featured in a UN documentary that followed his family’s settlement from the refugee camp to Regina, Saskatchewan. In December 2015, he was honoured at the Canadian Journalists for Free Expression gala in Toronto for his courageous reporting. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
