A Story of a Violin | Israa Enan | TEDxDirigo

In this rhythmic poem, Israa Enan examines her connection to her birthplace in Iraq and wonders, with raw honesty, how we imagine the places we come from and our roots to that place. Can we disappoint our homeland? Can it disappoint us? Israa Enan is from the hot city, in southern Iraq, called Basra. She is 20 years old and attends the University of Southern Maine, studying human biology. She loves writing and reading books in Arabic and English. Her family is very important to her, along with education, and her values. She believes that, with education, we can have a better world. She also believes that peace should be everywhere so everyone can experience it. She hopes to be a good role model to the coming generations. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
