Social Sofas - bringing communities together | Karin Bruers | TEDxMaastricht

Why are social spaces so important to a community? Should they be reserved for the higher members of society or for all classes? Karin Bruers presents an energetic and hilariously unscripted account of her social sofas experiment and her views on how this simple concept brings a community together. The project Social Sofas has now extended beyond a decade; a project which has become a company. Keep your eyes peeled for Social Sofas in Spain, Germany, Italy, Japan and Iraq because this concept is taking the world by storm. Bruers is a Dutch cabaret artist, writer, entrepreneur and comedian from Tilburg. Bruers founded Entertainment Atelier, a company which is engaged in organizing large-scale events, theater productions and TV programs. Bruers wrote for national television programs like Even that! and published her first book ‘Brigadier Crossover Mother’ in 2013. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
