Cognitive agents driving the healthcare revolution | Hannes Kenngott | TEDxUniHeidelberg

In his TEDx Talk, Hannes explores the imminent paradigm shift in medicine and surgery through the influence of artificially intelligent systems and new technologies. Robots and cognitive systems in the operating room are already an established research area and will be more and more implemented into clinical routine. As medical project leader of the new surgical building of the University Hospital in Heidelberg, Hannes is planning the hospital and the operating rooms of the future with features some people might never imagine. Hannes Götz Kenngott is board-certified surgeon and leader of the research group „New Technologies and Data Science“ at the department for General, Visceral and Transplantation Surgery of the University Hospital Heidelberg. He earned his Doctor of Medicine for the development of a navigation system in minimal invasive surgery in 2010 and has since then been an active researcher in the field of using artificial intelligence, new technologies and robotics in medical care and surgery. Hannes is also co-founder of Mint Medical, a spin-off from the German Cancer Research Center, which is developing disruptive software for radiologists and clinical researchers and driving the paradigm shift to structured and cognitive data science, diagnostics, reporting and therapy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
