Edge of the Fjord | Andrew Munz | TEDxJacksonHole

For Andrew, Iceland was a refuge, a majestic country not so dissimilar to western Wyoming in both landscape and cultural mentality. It was mountainous. Volcanic. Sparsely populated. Horses dotted green pastures and it took three hours to drive anywhere. Carrying more internal baggage than suitcases, Andrew took five trips to Iceland in five years’ time, treating each voyage as a pilgrimage to beat back his depression. However, when winter settled in, darkening things further, Andrew realized that the place that was supposed to save him might very well destroy him. ndrew was born in 1987 in Catskill, NY, then grew up in Jackson Hole. He has been a long-standing, dedicated member of the local theatre and writing communities. Andrew is best known as the writer and director of the Jackson-based theatrical trilogy, “I Can Ski Forever”, the third of which he wrote as an original musical. An avid traveler to Iceland, he has worked as a whale watching guide and a sous chef in a remote, rural fjord. As a novelist, he is represented by Bradford Literary Agency. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
