The Future of our Coastal Systems | Graham Worthy | TEDxOrlando

Today's most pressing problems â€" from climate change to the educational achievement gap â€"all touch on multiple academic disciplines and Universities have a responsibility to facilitate those efforts. But how do we make that happen? In his talk, Dr. Graham Worthy explores the communication challenges present in academia by examining the current struggles present in fixing Florida's coastal systems. Graham Worthy is a UCF Pegasus Professor, Provosts Distinguished Professor of Biology and the Hubbs-SeaWorld Endowed Professor of Marine Mammalogy. He is also the Chair of the Department of Biology and Director of the Physiological Ecology and Bioenergetics Lab in the Department of Biology. Worthy is also the lead for the Sustainable Coastal Systems cluster and the author of the proposal that was submitted to the Faculty Cluster Initiative program. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
