"To Be Revolutionary or To Not Be Revolutionary" | Arik Bjorn | TEDxHammondSchool

“Bjorn to Run”, Arik Bjorn represented the epitome of what it means to be revolutionary. He ran for Congress, and although he lost, he made history for the state of South Carolina. He has always stood as a voice for people who needed additional support and advocacy, and his talk revolved around rebelling and speaking out. ARIK BJORN was the Democratic Party and Green Party fusion candidate in 2016 for South Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District. His opponent was Republican Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-2). Arik was the second candidate in history endorsed by the South Carolina Democratic Party before its state primary. Arik is a public librarian and the former manager of the South Carolina SmartState Program, a billion-dollar academic economic development program that helped usher South Carolina into the 21st-century Knowledge-Based Economy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
