MOOCs: knowledge at your fingertips | Sophie Dandache | TEDxUCLouvain

Have you ever dreamed of following a ‘Justice’ course from Harvard University? ‘Financial Market’ from Yale? ‘Political Sciences’ from Université Catholique de Louvain? With MOOCs, these courses and 4200 other ones are today accessible to you, from your own living room and for free! However, studies show that many people have difficulties completing a MOOC. How come? And, more importantly, how to overcome this? The answer is proper guidance which is what this talk will offer you! Sophie Dandache got a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). She then started a Ph.D. in Orthopedagogy at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL), where she focuses her research on comparing dyslexia in different languages. Passionate about empirical research, she has been attracted to the innovative quality of the MOOC project and the way it increases access to higher education all around the world. This interest in exploring how such a project works and what its place is in the changing field of education has led her to start a postdoc as a member of the MoocQuality program at UCL. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
