Turning a burden into a blessing: a new approach to refugee protection. The luck of where we are born can influence whether we become a refugee during our life. What can we do to improve the lives of refugees & allow them to live valuable lives within our communities? A passionate advocate for refugee rights, Janemary Ruhundwa is the Country Director for Asylum Access, Tanzania. She leads efforts to provide legal services, livelihood and entrepreneurship training, and influencing public policy, for the unrecognised and marginalized urban refugee population. With her extensive experience of the refugee experience in Tanzania, and related policies, Janemary will be sharing ideas around the issues of encampment and current models of support for displaced people This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
