In this talk, urban planner Victor Dover outlines the importance of "street trees". Dover encourages the lining of streets with greenery as a way of brightening the environment and providing economic benefits. For 25 years, urban designer Victor Dover, cofounder of Dover, Kohl & Partners Town Planning, has been designing plans for livable, walkable and sustainable communities in 22 states and across five continents. He is the coauthor of Street Design: The Secret to Great Cities and Towns (Wiley, January 2014). His work spans five continents and ranges from revitalizing historic downtowns to retrofitting suburbia. His projects include Plan El Paso, hailed as “America’s Best Smart Growth Plan,” Glenwood Park in Atlanta, and, locally, the dramatic makeover of downtown South Miami. Victor is a Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners. He served as the national chair of the Congress for the New Urbanism from 2010 â€" 2012. Victor is a board member of Friends of the Ludlam Trail. He’s also a regular bike commuter, veteran marathoner and four-time Ironman triathlete.
