From his visits to South Africa and enthrallment with its local culture, Jason came to found Umbiyozo as a means to engage the youth and provide a positive path forward for them. Undergraduate student at UCT, founder of UMBIYOZO, Umbiyozo is a youth-focused social venture uniting the traditional-song and -dance troupes of Cape Town’s black townships. Umbiyozo’s mission is to incentive youths’ participation within their communities’ troupes so as to prevent gangsterism, drug usage, teenage pregnancy, social isolation, and disempowerment.
