What does debating have in common with magic? | Amanda Moorghen | TEDxYouth@HamptonCourtHouse

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In this talk, Amanda Moorghen paints a colourful picture of debating and encourage young people to get involved with their passions. She also talks about how being introduced to debate is akin to Harry Potter being introduced to the world of magic. Amanda Moorghen is a champion debater who studied Philosophy at the University of Birmingham. She has debated all over the world, from Latvia to the Philippines, where she reached the quarter-finals of the competitive World Universities Debate Championships. She now works full time on Speech and Debate activities with the ESU (a UK educational charity). About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
