Say Yes! | Lauren Sullivan | TEDxYouth@CEHS

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. One word comes before anyone takes that first step in 'a journey of thousand miles'â€"“yes”. Lauren Sullivan, co-founder of REVERB, a company that greens national concerts, recounts her experience creating a company that has taken her from her kitchen sink to thousands of miles across the country chasing tour buses of some of today’s greatest musical groups (including Dave Matthews, The Barenaked Ladies, and John Mayer) to help them reduce their carbon footprint and educate their audiences on how to make the world a more livable and fair place for us all. In the spring of 2004, Lauren, with the help of some friends, chased the Barenaked Ladies’/Alanis Morissette “Au Naturale” tour back and forth across the country… and so REVERB’s days of green touring and education began. Today Lauren works on many of the organizational elements that keep REVERB chugging: strategic planning, financial oversight and development, governance and legal, with some biodiesel coordination thrown in for good measure. Lauren earned a B.A. in Social Psychology and Spanish from Tufts University and an M.S. in Environmental Education from the Audubon Expedition Institute at Lesley University. Lauren has worked as a campaigner with the Rainforest Action Network in San Francisco, and in Brooklyn, NY with Partnerships for Parks helping communities to advocate for and re-claim their parks, gardens and green spaces. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
