How to be a good data scientist? | Kao Yi-Min (高義銘) | TEDxNCU

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Big data, a word that became popular overnight. Hundreds of people are crazy about it and point out data science can be standard industry. However, what is data science really like? Is what we are doing called “data science”, or just “data analysis”? In this talk, Kao dug out tens of thousands of data of phone scam, showed how they optimize Whoscall to be a successful application, and finally gave some guidelines to people. Kao Yi-Min is a data scientist who words at Gogolook, a new start-up company highly praised by Google CEO Eric Schmidt. Whoscall, the main App product of Gogolook, has been downloaded over million times around the world. Kao and his coworkers focus on call pattern analysis to provide complete recognition of spam, fraud numbers and marketing numbers. Gogolook has been acquired by NAVER, the Korean company known as the owner of LINE.
