Designing cars helped me fight global poverty | Cristina Balan | TEDxBucharest

Cristina Balan tells about her dreams was to design cars. She wanted to prove wrong every single person who told her this was impossible because she was a woman. So she set about working for her dream and aimed as high as possible. She designed the future at Tesla through the Model S and works to change the world’s image of electric cars. She started her own design house and works as an advisor for 4 disruptive start-ups in the field of automotive. She is the inventor of an electric bike and puts all of her passion into her personal project: to reinvent the medical care in the poorest areas of the World, as support for the Red Cross. Cristina Balan left Romania fourteen years ago and was part of the engineering teams that designed two of the most famous US products in the world â€" Tesla Model S and Boeing 787 Dreamliner. She is also proud of her interior design work for Porsche, Audi and Honda that also earned her the Catia Fairy nickname This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
