Positive Pageantry: Celebrating Our Diversity | Faith Shier | TEDxUIdaho

Today’s society is constantly bombarded with images portraying only one “healthy” body type in the media. This false representation can easily lead to the problem of negative body image. Faith promotes that “healthy” comes in many different shapes and sizes, and wants to help everyone find what makes them move, and makes them healthy. Faith is an advocate and role model of positive body image and wants to remind everyone that being different is something to celebrate, not try to hide or change. Faith Shier is an ambitious University of Idaho student pursuing a public relations degree and dance minor. Faith represented North Idaho as Miss Moscow International in the statewide Miss Idaho International pageant this year, and will do so again next spring. She has a strong passion for helping others and hopes to be apart in solving the many problems that today’s society faces. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
