In the UK we often have fixed ideas about victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, but in reality teenage girls are often most at risk of harm, yet the forgotten, invisible aspect. Isabel argues that our current approach to ending violence against women and girls is ineffective and expensive, instead promoting preventative Sex and Relationships Education nationally as a realistic and much needed solution.
Isabel started her career by carrying out theatre projects with young offenders at Leeds University. Since then, she has accumulated experience in working with young people at risk of social exclusion, within schools and communities, facing multiple disadvantages.
Isabel specialises in working with young women at risk of harm in their intimate relationships and exploitation from gangs. Isabel is a respected figure in terms of inequality, particularly around gender: she has addressed conferences and spoken multiple times at the Houses of Parliament.
Isabel was recently named in the top ten of 24 Housing'€˜s Young Leaders competition. Isabel has won numerous awards for youth-led projects she coordinates in London and won a young journalist award for her work on gang-related violence and exploitation of girls in the UK.
