Musical performance and inspiration | Shaprece | TEDxRainier

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Enjoy the rich and unique music of Shaprece and a brief talk describing her work. Drawing from an eclectic palette of musical influences, Shaprece Renee Richardson’s artistic direction ranges from electronic beats to orchestral arrangement, soulful vocals to ambient soundscapes. Blending digitally altered tones with sultry and smoky vocals, she has created a musical category all her own. Inspired by Bjork, Little Dragon, and Aaliyah, among others, forming a pleasant fusion of dreamy melodies and atmospheric sounds. Shaprece, along with electro-ambient producer IG88, has been working on her debut full length album here in Seattle. Phillip Peterson and Daniel Butman, contribute strings and other orchestral elements. Shaprece’s album is being recorded between IG88’s home studio and the legendary Robert Lang Studios. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
