Caricature everything! | Signe Wilkinson | TEDxFreeLibraryofPhiladelphia

Award-winning editorial cartoonist Signe Wilkinson encourages viewers to caricature their worlds by remaining curious and paying attention to what’s around them. She discusses the concept of stereotyping in editorial cartooning and examines how we process complex topics through humor based on these stereotypes, which must be constantly refreshed to remain ever relevant in our changing world. Signe Wilkinson uses editorial cartoons to translate complex news stories into simple drawings, and consequently provoke laughter, anger, and curiosity. Most known for her humorous and thoughtful work at the Philadelphia Daily News, she is the first female cartoonist to win the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning. She has penned a syndicated daily comic strip, Family Tree, and her cartoons are collected in the book One Nation, Under Surveillance. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
