Facing the Music | Gregory Adamson | TEDxRiverside

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Gregory Adamson was deeply unfulfilled by his successful life in the financial world, so over the course of 10 years, he traded it for one as an artist. Now he loves what he doesâ€"live painting performancesâ€"and is able to draw ooohs and aaahs with every stroke during this performance. Gregory Adamson paints to music with his bare hands or brushes, creating masterpieces in just minutes. His subjects are icons from the worlds of music, sports, history and other pop culture. He has performed and entertained at concerts with major recording artists, members of Congress and other national leaders, business groups, charity fundraisers and festivals, including a performance for Olympic officials during the 2012 London Olympics. Gregory’s unusual formula allows organizations to raise funds by auctioning the paintings he creates during his performances. His portrait of 2014 MusiCares Person-of-the-Year Gala honoree Carole King follow past years’ portraits auctioned at the same annual gala of Neil Diamond, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand, and Neil Young. Gregory also creates privately commissioned studio paintingsâ€"including portraits and other subjects, and devotes time whenever possible to his ‘personal’ works which are more abstract in nature. He also teaches sell-out painting workshops. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
